Welcome
Welcome to the first edition of our new blog. We aim to use this medium to update our friends and guests (past and future) about activities on the Resort, on developments in our operations and any special offers available and with news about interesting events or activities in the region.
Spring has arrived early in the Humber Valley this year. We had a very mild winter with little snow to trouble the snow clearers or those living in the area. We have had a prolonged spell of warm weather and sunshine in recent weeks and any remnants of snow in the lower parts of the valley have now gone. With no offshore ice around the coasts this spring we anticipate a continuation of warmer than average weather because “nature’s deep freeze” is switched off this year. We hope that this will mean an earlier start to summer activities than normal and a prolonged summer season when we can all enjoy the many activities available in this area.
Despite the mild, relatively snow free winter our guests enjoyed a brilliant winter season. After a slow start to the ski season we had a cold snap at the end of January which enabled Marble Mountain to stockpile a large amount of man made snow which they used to good effect for the remainder of the season. All reports from the mountain indicated some of the best skiing for a number of years in the weeks before the mountain closed at the end of Easter weekend. Similarly with snowmobiling. Although our guests weren’t generally able to leave from their chalets on the Resort or the normal departure points around the valley all the reports were of ”the best snowmobiling for many years” once riders transported their sleds to access points to the trail network that were usable.
Readers will no doubt have seen the publicity surrounding the sale of the Resort to a local consortium a couple of weeks ago. We welcome the end of the uncertainty which has been dogging the resort for the past year and a half since the insolvency proceedings commenced, and indeed for many months before that as the Resort struggled to find a way of surviving. We are looking forward to working with the new owners to enhance and promote the Resort for the benefit of our guests. As we learn of their plans and intentions we will publish information on the planned developments here so you will know what is going on.
In coming posts we will cover the prospects for the River Course at Humber Valley Resort this summer, the Spring Festivals planned for the area in coming weeks and developments in our own business. Check back regularly to see these items as they are posted.
Great article, thank you very much!
Very useful post. Bookmarked. Thanks for it!
By far the most concise and up to date information I found on this topic. Sure glad that I navigated to your page by accident. I’ll be subscribing to your feed so that I can get the latest updates. Appreciate all the information here
I have reviewed your web site and emailed you for more info. However, I need to know the status of the receivership and new owners. Please advise.
Thank You.

The assets of the bankrupt company were purchased by new owners earlier in the year and the Resort is open for business with the golf course, the club house and bar all operating this summer. The bar is also serving bar meals so there is food available on site. The Beach House was sold separately by the Trustee in Bankruptcy and has not as at end June 2010 reopened (and appears most unlikely to do so for the summer season).
Accommodation on the site is now being offerd by a small number of independant operators such as ourselves
